H.E. Alfred Grannas, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, calls on Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs in his office today.

H.E. Alfred Grannas, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany called on the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the Ministry of Economic Affairs today. Matters of mutual interest were discussed in the meeting.

The Minister for Economic Affairs warmly welcomed the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to his office and highlighted that Pakistan and Germany share a cordial and friendly relationship, and both countries are committed to strengthening their ties in the future. He further stated that the Government of Pakistan is thankful to the Government of Germany for their continuous support during the 2022 floods.

Mr Grannas also stressed enhancing bilateral ties and highlighted that Germany is not only the most significant and largest trading partner of Pakistan in the entire European Union (by volume and value), but Germany is also one of the leading countries in financial assistance for flood-affected people in 2022.

He further appreciated the Government of Pakistan’s outlook towards environment protection and efficient utilization of natural resources, clean and green energy. He apprised the Minister that a positive regulatory framework for Electric Vehicles import has been a major step which promises to reduce Pakistan’s reliance on importing petroleum products.

Minister highlighted that the Government of Pakistan is actively promoting the use of renewable energy, electric vehicles and solarization in the country. Moreover, the Government of Pakistan is also looking forward to the Government-to-Government Negotiations on technical cooperation scheduled in May.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks from both sides.
