British High Commissioner, H.E. Mr. Christian Turner calls on Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in Islamabad today. H.E. Mr. Christian Turner, British High Commissioner along with Mr. Micheal Barbar, Founder and Chairman of Delivery Associates called on Honorable Federal Minister of Economic Affairs, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in Islamabad today. The Minister for Economic Affairs warmly welcomed the British High Commissioner and acknowledged the role of United Kingdom as one of the largest bilateral partners of Pakistan. The Minister also expressed his deep appreciation for UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) which is now renamed as Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for its timely support during COVID pandemic and Locust disaster. H.E. Mr. Turner also appreciated the role and efforts of Pakistan in aiding for execution of these development projects. Moreover, he apprised the Minister about the revival of England-Pakistan Cricket in September onwards which was appreciated by the Minister. Minister for Economic Affairs highlighted the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan for improving Service Delivery by ensuring delivery of the government’s domestic policy priorities across health, education, crime reduction, criminal justice, transport and immigration. Adding to which, he emphasized on having a five-year Strategic Plan with a proper monitoring mechanism for tracking the progress of each project. H.E. Mr. Turner apprised the Minister about the possible support by UK Government in sectors including Energy and Economy, to help overcoming current oil price hike and inflation challenges. The Minister welcomed the support and reiterated the need of the timely interventions by the FCDO that will assist Pakistan in overcoming these challenges. Minister further stressed on the importance of Delivery Unit that it would have informed decision making, through proper automated systems, where the progress can be monitored digitally and make required intervention Both sides also expressed their desire to revive the Post-Brexit Bilateral Annual Assistance Talks which were last held in March, 2019. The meeting was attended by the Founder and Chairman of Delivery Associates, Mr. Michael Barber, representatives from British High Commission and senior officials from Economic Affairs Division.
