Bilateral Negotiations on Development Cooperation between the Government of Pakistan and Government of Germany held on 28-30 October, 2015 at Berlin
The Pakistan delegation was headed by Mr. Muhammad Saleem Sethi, Secretary Economic Affairs Division and the German side by Thomas Silberhon Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Both sides discussed the existing Portfolio on financial and Technical Cooperation and the new areas of development cooperation. The Government of Federal Republic of Germany made new commitments of Euros 93.64 million (financial cooperation 66.41 million Euros and 27.23 million Euros for Technical Cooperation).
Going forward, Germany‘s development support to Pakistan will put a strategic focus on three priority area: governance, energy and sustainable economic development. Under the priority area of sustainable economic development, three pillars will build on : 1) technical and vocational training (TVET), job creation; 2) Social protection and economic empowerment; and 3) Financial System Development. Crises prevention and support to refugees and TDPs as well as supporting gender equality will continue to be areas of special importance, cutting across all sectoral priority areas.
Next Consultations will be held in Pakistan in 2016 and negotiations in 2017 in Pakistan.
Delegates of both countries visited German Parliament
